Madhurima GOSWAMI responds to ThinkWellness360 questionnaire:
Your view on beauty?
I strongly believe in Audrey ‘My Fair Lady’ Hepburn’s timeless aphorism, “The beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure that she carries, or the way she combs her hair. The beauty of a woman is seen in her eyes, because that is the doorway to her heart, the place where love resides. True beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul. It’s the caring that she lovingly gives, the passion that she shows and the beauty of a woman only grows with passing years.” Agreed that good looks make you attractive, but for me a beautiful person is someone with a good heart; is also loyal, honest and grounded. If your heart is pure and filled with love and affection, it automatically reflects on your face. This is why, it is important to always think positively, focus on doing good and, trust me, you’ll then shine as the most beautiful individual among all.
Your ‘take’ on fitness?
When one says, ‘fitness,’ we automatically think of a fit and well-chiselled body that comes with regular workout and a healthy diet plan. While this regimen is important for everyone to follow, people fail to understand that fitness also means maintaining a good mental and emotional state; also balance. Fitness is a 360-degree focus on not just physical, but also mental and emotional wellness. One needs to not only follow a healthy diet, and regular workout schedule, but also keep oneself content by thinking constructively and doing things that make one happy — only then can one be called 100 per cent fit.
Your view of health and wellness?
Ah, our life is loaded with its immense work pressure, family responsibilities etc., Just think of it… By the time we reach our 30s, taking care of our health takes the backseat. That’s the downside. Unless this fact dawns upon anyone, more so when there’s a question-mark on their health, it becomes a cause for concern. The real problem is: health is most often not considered a priority. In my opinion, everyone, above age 25, must take the initiative towards maintaining good health by inculcating certain good habits in their daily lives that can have long-term benefits — like doing regular exercise/yoga, meditating for 15-20 minutes daily, taking multi-vitamins, avoiding junk-food as much as possible, ensuring regular health check-ups, drinking lots of water and staying well hydrated etc., When this is followed for starters, it gets into the skin of your thought and becomes a habit, so much so there’s no reason why you cannot enjoy good health and a long, healthy active life.
Your ‘take’ on work-life balance?
It is extremely important to strike a balance as the consequences can be upsetting. Maintaining your social life, while balancing work will not only help you stay mentally sound and healthy, but also relaxed. This can help bring out the best in you, not just productivity at work. A sound mind in a sound body yields lucrative results, provided you relax just as well when required. It’s a simple equation — for maintaining a stable lifestyle and being efficient at work, work-life and life-work balance is of utmost importance.
Your mantra to beat stress?
I beat my stress by either going for a body spa, or watching movies, or series, or going out for a fancy dinner with my family, friends, or doing meditation. When my mind doesn’t ‘function’ at its so-called optimal level, I sometimes pick up a spiritual book, The Secret, for example, and re-read it, to get the right stimulus, or direction, so that I am back on track with a fresh mind. Listening to soulful music also has a therapeutic effect on me.
