A Case Of MA & LP

how to reduce skin disease with homeopathy

How to reduce skin disease with homeopathy. JM, a 30-year-old manager, consulted me for ‘hyperpigmentation,’ which she believed was a part of her since childhood. There was no ‘real-time’ itching, but the pigmentation was prominent on her face, limbs and back. JM reported that she’d taken conventional and Ayurveda treatments before, but it was status quo — no tangible improvement, or progress.

That she was worried that her condition was incurable is tantamount to stating the obvious — so, she came with no real hope of homeopathy helping her case with therapeutic success.

The dermatologist, who she first consulted, had diagnosed her disorder as macular amyloidosis [MA], a condition caused by abnormal deposits of protein [amyloid] in the skin. The diagnosis was spot on. Common symptoms of the disorder include flat, discoloured skin spots that merge and form patches, in conjunction with tads of darkened skin.

I took her detailed case history, during the course of which JM disclosed that she was awfully distressed owing to her job loss. She often desired to be alone and wept easily. She was, I could sense, reticent and withdrawn by nature too.

I put her on the homeopathic remedy, Natrum muriaticum 6C, based on her presenting symptoms, the disorder per se and her personality type. It took about a year for her to be relieved of her pigmentation despair. The disorder that had upset her since childhood — one that she thought was irredeemable — no longer bothered her.

Lichen Planus:How to reduce skin disease with homeopathy

NR, a 37-year-old software engineer, consulted me for his skin disorder. His condition was reminiscent of lichen, a wobbly connotation between fungi and algae. The disorder had stayed with him for 3-4 years. He had consulted dermatologists in his home-town, as also the city where he worked, but he was not happy with the results.

That he was diagnosed with lichen planus [LP], a skin and/or mucous membrane disorder that resembles lichen, is passé. LP is suggested to be an autoimmune process with an unknown initial ‘prompt.’ It usually impacts adults, while targeting any part of the body, although it has a ‘fancy’ for the wrists, ankles, oral and genital areas. The condition can trigger itchy bouts too.

Conventional medicine does not have a specific medicine for the disorder; however, several medications and adjuvants are often prescribed to manage the symptoms. Homeopathy provides noticeable relief, and also respite, to LP patients — safely and without side-effects.

I prescribed NR the homeopathic remedy, Calcarea carbonicum 30C, primarily because of his personality type. He was like the emblematic Calcarea archetype — portly, fond of eating potato chips, shy, docile, delicate and pensive. He also showed a far-flung, yet restless, hasty side, notably on the face, along with mood changes.

He reacted well to homeopathic treatment and his skin glitch began to fade, albeit slowly. Today, after a year-and-a-half, his skin imperfection no longer troubles him. In his words, “I don’t even remember the distressing thing now. I’m so relieved.”
