‘Staying Focused Is Everything’

Raashii KHANNA on beauty, fitness, health and wellness.

Your view on beauty?

Beauty isn’t what you see; it is more than skin deep. A harmonious mind, good thoughts, being kind and accepting things are what makes one beautiful. Taking care of your skin is the first step to feel good. As for me, cleansing is an essential part of my skin care routine. I use a gentle cleanser suitable for my skin type and rub it in circular motions. After washing, I apply warm water and pat my face dry with a soft towel. I exfoliate once a week and use a moisturiser that is appropriate for my skin type after washing and toning my face. It’s crucial to drink enough water to maintain healthy, beautiful skin. To keep my skin moisturised and to drain out impurities, I drink at least eight glasses of water each day. I eat a healthy, balanced diet that includes fruits, vegetables, and lean meat. I avoid junk-food and sugary drinks to prevent acne and other skin problems. I also make sure to get enough sleep and exercise on a daily basis to keep my body and mind in good shape.

Your ‘take’ on fitness?

From weight-lifting, and stretching to yoga and meditation, I make it a point to hit the gym regularly, because I am particular about my fitness. I consume a glass of warm water, along with six almonds in the morning. I do not stick to any one thing for my breakfast, lunch, or dinner. I eat a variety of food, but I make sure to choose healthy options. For my breakfast, I have an egg white, traditional poha, or upma, along with one teaspoon of ghee [in every meal].

Your view of health and wellness?

Health and wellness go hand-in-hand — they are the sum of the parts and also part of the whole. I make awareness a part of my wellness plan. I stick to the basics. I aim to be discreet; I don’t overindulge, or go overboard with anything.

Your ‘take’ on work-life balance?

I just believe in working hard; whatever comes my way, or doesn’t, I try to stay focused and always do my best.

Your mantra to beat stress?

I just work hard and relax — so, everything will fall into place. I make sure to overcome disappointments. I don’t allow them to engulf me — I just throw them through my mind’s roof. I listen to music to unwind, and relax. I meditate and be myself. Always.
