‘I’m Clued-Up To Positive Vibes’

Vicky KAUSHAL on beauty, fitness, health and wellness.

Your view on beauty?

That I’m with ‘that’ right person is, in my view, the most beautiful feeling in the world — just as much as being in love is the most beautiful feeling in the world. I think if you are with the right person who really gives peace and happiness, in your heart and mind, it just makes you the best version of yourself. It creates positive vibes and energy.

Your ‘take’ on fitness?

I believe in a holistic approach to health — one that encompasses physical fitness and mental well-being. My fitness pitch revolves around a combination of intense workouts and a well-balanced diet. Here are a few exercise patterns that am keyed to, among others.

Pull-ups. Pull-ups are a regular part of my fitness regimen — a multi-joint plan that comprises of wrists, elbows, shoulders, and biceps exercises. The regimen enhances functional health and the harmonious relationship between the nervous and muscular systems. They also minimise the chances of future back pain and prevent any problematic injury that may happen later. They strengthen the back and its core muscles, improve posture and provide a taller and leaner look

Running. The best cardio. I work on the treadmill, warming up, or stretching, and I set myself up for a refreshing run. Running is one of the most critical activities for a healthy body and heart. It is the simplest and most accessible form of exercise that most people can do, irrespective of their age. The pace of running can vary from individual to individual, depending on their fitness levels. It is said that running lowers the chance of stroke, cancer and metabolic conditions like diabetes. I strongly believe in the paradigm — and, this is the secret of my fitness.

Battle rope training. Out of all the workouts I do, I make sure that I do not miss battle ropes training. The exercise helps in improving grip strength. Whether you are forming waves, stretching the ropes, or lifting the ropes, battle rope training generates stability better than most other exercises. Besides, the most essential benefit of battle rope training is mobility.

Your view of health and wellness?

Health and wellness, to me, are simply two sides of the same coin. They are keyed to good fitness and balanced diet. Well, I just love one dish that no one can make as good as my mom — aloo ke parathe with white makkhan and aam ka achar. Another food that makes my mouth water is chicken and fish tikka. I am a tikka lover. I love junk-food, yes, but I quickly switch gears and shun any over-indulgence

On the sets. I prefer mostly vegetarian food. I am a non-vegetarian, by choice, but it’s nice to keep your stomach light and easy during shoots. It helps you go through long, hectic days [16-18 hours] of shooting.

My ‘weakness.’ Raaste ka chaat. Life without paani puri isn’t life

My all-time favourite cuisine. Chinese

Favourite dessert. Jalebi with thandi rabri. You can easily bribe me with them.

Your ‘take’ on work-life balance?

The secret to managing one’s work-life balance boils down to knowing what’s important and what can wait. It is crucial to use the sharpest knife possible to trimming the essentials from the secondary. I prefer to ask questions that help me determine the level of urgency. I negotiate longer lead times whenever I can and I don’t give in to the ‘instant-and-immediate answer’ syndrome. Treating everything as top priority is draining and depleting. I avoid it. Totally.

Your mantra to beat stress?

When you bring your time into line, it always helps, because it isn’t just a matter of scheduling. The mechanics of how you operate can be every bit as decisive. This means organising every element to allow as smooth a work flow as possible. Everything should be set up using logical thought systems, so anyone needing anything can find it when they need it. Eliminating clutter and the chaos is a great gift — all of this and more is my simple mantra to beating stress.
