Soulful Melodies Of Being

mind

Words: Dr Rajgopal NIDAMBOOR

Our mind is more than an advance — a mirror to life itself. It’s also far ahead of what René Descartes, the mediaeval philosopher, reasoned: “I think, therefore, I am.”

We all know it — that within the world of matter is the body, even though our fundamental body goes beyond matter in several ways. How you may well ask. Here goes: our feelings and emotions recognise a world. They also fuse consciousness, the past, the present, and the future, even when the body is at rest. That is, when we are fast asleep.

When our mind becomes quiet, it reaches a boundless stillness. Now, as the soul begins to speak hazily, we materialise into a state we may never have imagined existed. This is a condition that is also beyond consistency and judgment. You may call this our ‘sound’ junction, from where our mysterious eternity breathes life into perishable time. Our ancient scriptures relate to this state of timelessness as joyfulness personified.

This state is transpersonal and beyond personal identities. It is a form that is always available to us. You may call it a unique stage; a moment where the soul begins to expand permanently into consciousness. This state may not be all-encompassing, yes, but the fact is, the soul can now relate to our prism of mysticism and examine its own depths of spiritual feelings. In so doing, it can grant a new connotation to life and/or convey purity to every aspect of our psyche.

Our mind and body are actually one; there is also a grand intelligence in the system. Emotions are the neuropeptides, or receptors, of information. We must see them as cellular pointers involved in the evolution of interpreting data into physical actuality — or, transmuting our mind into matter.

Emotions connect matter and mind, and vice versa. You may illustrate this as a complex web — a sophisticated network that offers composure and kind forgiveness Therapists relate to this ability as the integral psychological chart of the individual. They also refer to it as the best guide in our healing practices.

There is a growing body of work, especially New-Age literature, which is in step with the diseases of the soul — a discipline that adapts traditional/spiritual treatments with modern psychology. The list is obvious: yoga, shamanism, holistic or integrative medicine etc.,

These initiatives are, of course, all-embracing. For example, a therapist who works with the body, the shadow, the persona, the existential self, the soul and the spirit, knows that all of them may join consciousness in an extraordinary cosmic dance. This is a voyage that gains ground and stirs our entire spectrum of being into balance and also spiritual bliss. You can, in so doing, dig into your identity too — to find the beyond, the emergent, the newly-arising, and not the already repressed.

This is all a part of understandable psychology. It is also a simple tool that enables us to fathom the shallow wells and the depths of our self.
