Rashmika MANDANNA on beauty, fitness, health and wellness.
Your view on beauty?
The best thing one should do is — embrace one’s own natural features, or what is natural to you. That’s inner and outer beauty for you. I always emphasise on natural beauty — one which nature bestowed on you. My simple ‘prescription’ is — go for a simple, radiant skin with minimalistic make-up. Also, learn to appreciate and enhance your unique features, rather than trying to conforming yourself to impracticable, or naïve, beauty standards. My self-confidence, I believe, stems from feeling self-assured in my own skin and being real. I’m all for a balanced and healthy lifestyle, because, this, in my opinion, is the best thing to do. It manifests itself as beauty — no more, no less.
Your ‘take’ on fitness?
I believe that fitness is being focused more on diet than merely working out. Good food is always needed to keep yourself physically and mentally healthy. It ensures you to stay at the top of your fitness game by not just working out, and following a good diet, but also staying well hydrated — all through the day.
Your view of health and wellness?
Staying fit and healthy is much more important than staying slim. I have always prioritised health over the fitness gauge. My fitness routine involves working out four times a week and focusing on activities like kickboxing, skipping, dancing, swimming, spinning, yoga and brisk walk. I’m also into weight training for building muscle. A combination of cardio exercises and weight training makes up my workout routine too. This makes me feel healthy and also vibrantly well from the inside out.
Your ‘take’ on work-life balance?
Most of us tend to forget a good deal of important things. Taking a break from our busy work-life can do wonders. You have to, of course, make sure you are giving enough time for yourself, apart from pursuing your career. You should, in addition, make your own ‘me-time.’ If you don’t, you’d miss out on several essential things life has to offer. I believe that balancing your personal and professional life is as important as eating healthy food.
Your mantra to beat stress?
I love to go for high-intensity kickboxing sessions when I’m stressed, for whatever reason — it helps me to reduce stress and burn mega-calories, while giving a health boost to my metabolism. I also make it a point to take time off to be with my loved ones — this helps me relieve my stresses without me knowing that my loved ones are effortlessly providing me not just comfort, but also happiness.
