SHARMILEE KAPUR, MCom, MBA, pranic healer, author, and Founder and Director-Atmantan Wellness Centre, unwraps her exciting journey, from the ground up, including key strategies and future outlook, among other things — in this freewheeling conversation.

TW360: Your National Award-Winning Luxury Wellness Centre has been a name to reckon with. Please tell us from where the founders derived the primal idea for it?

SK: It was during my B-school days that I conjured up the idea of Atmantan, a place for holistic wellness, something that India has plenty to offer. It was envisaged as a non-judgmental haven where people could come at any stage of their life to get better. When I was fresh out of business school, Nikhil and I wanted to be social entrepreneurs, what with Nikhil being a tri-athlete, and I being a pranic healer. This, I believe, helped us align our strengths towards a place such as Atmantan. The rest, to use the famed cliché, is history.

TW360: Do you think Atmantan was a eureka moment? And, why?

SK: The name ‘Atmantan’ was definitely our eureka moment. The minute the name was shared with us, we instantly fell in love with it. We knew this was it. We also felt that it was the universe that was helping us with a name which stood for everything we wanted it to be. Atmantan is, in name, and actuality, the holistic amalgamation of the atma, mana and tann — in word and deed.

TW360:  You’ve a whole list of impressive services and other innovations. How do you keep abreast with what’s new in your field and/or formulate services that are a step ahead of others?

SK: The whole credit for this principle goes to Nikhil who makes sure he stays abreast with things happening in the world of wellness. You’d also take it from me: when Atmantan commits to anything, it is only after thorough research. Besides, a great deal of information comes our way through our valued guests. We always try to curate our services to their needs within the parameters of holistic healing.

TW360: Could you elaborate on your [founders’] background?

SK: Here are the details —

  • Nikhil Kapur, a visionary entrepreneur with over 15 years of experience, is the Co-Founder and Director of Atmantan Wellness Centre, a GOLD LEED Certified project. An alumnus of Symbiosis Institute of Business Management and Fergusson College, Pune, Nikhil initially built his career with leading multinationals, like Wipro and Reuters, before realising his dream of establishing a wellness haven. A five-time Ironman Triathlon participant, Nikhil’s dedication to health and fitness has shaped Atmantan into India’s premier wellness destination. His commitment to sustainability and nature has also led to numerous accolades for Atmantan, while making it a benchmark in the wellness industry.
  • Sharmilee Agrawal Kapur, a pranic healer and spiritual yogini, is the Co-Founder and Director of Atmantan Wellness Centre, a luxury wellness clinic, dedicated to holistic transformation of the mind, body and soul. An MBA from Bond University, Australia, Sharmilee’s entrepreneurial spirit is inspired by her father, a leader in Hospitality and Real Estate. Her belief in holistic wellness and Pranic Healing led to the creation of Atmantan — launched on World Health Day 2016. Atmantan, under her guidance, has earned prestigious accolades, including the ‘Best Wellness Centre’ Award by the Ministry of Tourism. Sharmilee is passionate about sustainability, which has bid fair to making Atmantan a GOLD LEED Certified project and for achieving NABH accreditation, while ensuring a holistic approach to guest well-being.

TW360:  What areas are you trying to help your clients with — aside from your current services etc?

SK: We help our guests manage and reverse lifestyle disorders, chronic ailments, auto-immune diseases, hormonal balancing, anti-aging, grief therapy, compromised health parameters etc. And, when they leave Atmantan, we continue to assist their well-being through our two-pronged support system — firstly, through our After-Care Programme, where guests are able to stay in touch with our doctors for regular guidance and diet management. Secondly, guests stay on track towards their wellness goals with the support of Atmantan Naturals Supplements. Our potent herbal and natural nutraceuticals are doctor-scientist formulated — which our guests consume back home, while maintaining and improving their health parameters.

TW360:  Who do you think are your main competitors?

Our team does track certain properties overseas, or locally. On a personal level, we tend to focus primarily on our vision board and aligning our initiatives to our overall strategy.

TW360: How do you stand apart from the competition?

SK: Nikhil and I don’t let the competition dictate our plan of action. For us, from day-one, it has always been about consistently enabling our guests to achieving the wellness results they need, thereby creating true value for their time and money. Today, we are grateful that our guests repeatedly come back to us, as they experience improved results with every visit and, eventually, achieve a tangibly improved way of living.

TW360: What are the most recent, special, or unique services that you’ve offered?

SK: Our most recent wellness offerings include Ozone and newer physio modalities for pain management and inflammation. Considering how well read and informed our guests are, these offerings are already becoming their favourites.

TW360: What exactly is your forte?

SK: I would say that we truly understand our guests and their wellness requirements. Team Atmantan’s skillset is honed, or keyed, to fulfil exactly this need and want.

TW360:  How fast are you growing?

SK: We have been growing at a rate of 25 per cent annually, for the last three years. This is a healthy growth rate for us and we are looking at maintaining this in the years ahead.

TW360: Going forward, what other services do you have in mind, planned, or envisaged?

SK: We are working on a few things. You will have to wait and watch.
